Suspended above the snow, the vivid red chairlift draws the viewer into the breathtaking scale of the Alpine landscape. Yet beneath the beauty and exhilaration is a more contemplative message: these magnificent environments are not permanent.

The  ski lift represents our human relationship with the mountains, we travel through them, explore them, and build experiences around their snow and glaciers, while the landscape beneath us is increasingly vulnerable to climate change. The painting celebrates the extraordinary beauty of the Alps while quietly asking us to consider what we risk losing if these frozen landscapes continue to disappear.
